PROGRAM

Early work in LAPIS involved an extensive socialisation of the program to prospective stakeholders and a comprehensive needs analysis for the sub-sector. As a result of these activities an Immediate Support Program (ISP) was developed which has included 50 activities in schools in the areas of school based management; pedagogy; content; text provision; life skills; basic English language training; alternative income generation; sustainable madrasah development; gender mainstreaming; library development; other donor cooperation; and local group capacity building. Significant experience has been gained by LAPIS in supporting those activities, in terms of building relationships in the sector and understanding its constraints and opportunities. Based on this experience LAPIS now funds activities in the following categories:
