PROGRAM
Early work in LAPIS involved an extensive socialisation of the program to prospective stakeholders and a comprehensive needs analysis for the sub-sector. As a result of these activities an Immediate Support Program (ISP) was developed which has included 50 activities in schools in the areas of school based management; pedagogy; content; text provision; life skills; basic English language training; alternative income generation; sustainable madrasah development; gender mainstreaming; library development; other donor cooperation; and local group capacity building. Significant experience has been gained by LAPIS in supporting those activities, in terms of building relationships in the sector and understanding its constraints and opportunities.
